A Colorado man is dead following a police shooting in southern Wyoming.
The Albany County Sheriff's Office reports that deputies shot and killed a man identified as 48-year-old John Alan Britton after he charged deputies while armed with a knife on Sunday afternoon.
Albany County Sheriff Dave O'Malley says Monday that he understands that Britton was from Denver. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is probing the shooting.
A statement from the sheriff's office states that the shooting occurred after deputies were called to the Snowy Range Ski Area, some 30 miles west of Laramie, in response to a report of a suicidal person.
