DENVER – An Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft, landed at Denver International Airport for the first time Sunday night.

The Air France flight, which was on its way to Paris from Los Angeles, landed at about 7:15 p.m. after it was diverted because of a medical issue on board, airport officials said.

Airbus A380 aircraft are double-decker wide-body planes that typically are used for long-haul international flights. No airline currently uses the aircraft for flights to or from Denver.

The airport said it is equipped to handle the aircraft and the plane was able to use DIA’s 16,000-foot runway for takeoff and landing.
