Woodland Park Mayor Val Carr dies from COVID-19

WOODLAND PARK, Colo. — Val Carr, the mayor of Woodland Park, has died after battling COVID-19 for weeks.

Mayor Pro Tem Hilary LaBarre confirmed Carr's death Tuesday. Carr had been hospitalized for approximately two months because of the virus.

Carr, a retired CEO software engineer, won the mayoral election in April 2020. He previously served for four years as a city councilman, as well as a Main Street board member, Economic Vitality Committee member and Teller County Senior Coalition Committee volunteer.
