GOLDEN, Colo. — The woman accused of killing a man in his Golden home in 2017 was sentenced to 16 years in prison Monday.

Peter Weir, District Attorney for the First Judicial District, said Kathleen Boutain pleaded guilty on Nov. 30, 2020 to reckless manslaughter and aggravated robbery for her role in the robbery and murder of Mitchell Ingle, 63.

Her co-defendant and husband Austin Boutain was sentenced to life in prison in 2019 after pleading guilty to first-degree murder.

According to an affidavit, the Boutains and Ingle were drinking and smoking marijuana together in Ingle's trailer in October 2017. Austin got mad when he and his wife were propositioned for sex and Austin allegedly slit Ingle's throat, according to prosecutors.

Austin was also sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of a 23-year-old University of Utah student, ChenWei Guo, after driving Ingle's vehicle to Salt Lake City following his murder. Kathleen was sentenced to one year in jail for her role.
