FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A Fort Collins woman says she found a needle in a piece of candy that was passed out at the Tour de Fat bike parade over the weekend.
Betsy Welk told The Coloradoan that she and some friends were watching the parade when passing cyclists threw candy into the crowd. When she opened a piece the following day, Welk found a sewing needle inside the chewy green candy, she said.
"Your mind kind of goes to the worst place ... but I really have no clue how it got there," Welk said.
Fort Collins police told The Coloradoan that they received a report about the candy but said the incident is difficult to investigate since it’s unclear who threw the candy.
This was the only such report that police had received about candy thrown in the parade.
