Woman charged with careless driving resulting in death of 69-year-old Thornton cyclist

THORNTON, Colo. – Prosecutors announced Monday they had charged a 66-year-old woman with careless driving resulting in the death of a 69-year-old cyclist last month.

Constance Anne Edwards, 66, is charged with three traffic offenses in the death of 69-year-old Thomas Burns: careless driving causing death, driving with an expired license and driving with expired license plates.

Burns was hit by Edwards’ vehicle while riding his bicycle in the 9800 block of McKay Road in Thornton on Aug. 10 and died that day.

Police have released few details about the case so far. Edwards is set to be arraigned in Adams County Court on Oct. 29.
