When to mail out the holiday letters and packages

Posted

DENVER -- Millions of Americans will spend the holidays far away from the place they call home, but that doesn't mean they have to be alone. Sending a package on time means the difference between a Merry Christmas and a belated Christmas card.

The United States Postal Service announced its "must send-by" dates for those hoping to ship out packages and letters during one of the busiest times of the year.

When sending packages and mail to the U.S. Military and APO/FPO boxes, stick to the following dates:

  • Priority packages and First-Class cards or enveloped letters should be mailed by Dec. 9.
  • Priority Express Mail should be sent by no later than Dec. 16.

Dates for shipping to regular citizens can be followed along those lines as well, as it never hurts to get a card to a loved one early.
