Elderly man found dead after Wheat Ridge apartment fire

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — An elderly man was found dead after a fire broke out at a Wheat Ridge apartment complex Friday afternoon. 

West Metro Fire crews responded to the Vintage Place Apartments around 2:30 p.m. The multi-story retirement community is located at 10600 West 38th Avenue in Wheat Ridge.

The fire appeared to be contained by the time AIRTRACKER7 flew over the scene around 3 p.m. It's not clear what started the blaze. 

Authorities have not said if the fire was the cause of the victim's death. His identity has yet to be released. No other injuries were reported.
