WESTMINSTER, Colo. – Police are asking for help in finding a man who skipped his sentencing date on a sexual assault of a child conviction and remains at-large.
Timothy Chavez, 28, now has an active nationwide extradition warrant after he was convicted earlier this year on kidnapping, false imprisonment, sexual assault by force, harassment, sexual assault with a 10-year age difference and sexual contact without consent charges.
Chavez failed to appear for an Aug. 9 sentencing hearing, and a warrant for failing to appear in court was issued that day.
Chavez victimized a 16-year-old, according to Westminster police.
He is described as 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes.
Police say Chavez should be considered dangerous and advise people not to approach him.
“It is in the best interest of the community to have Chavez taken into custody to ensure that he is not able to victimize another child,” the police department wrote in a news release.
