Weekend LeafDrop sites open Saturday in Denver, also accepting jack-o'-lanterns

Posted

DENVER — Starting Saturday, Denver residents can take bags of fallen leaves to various drop-off locations over the weekends.

While residents have been able to take bags of leaves to a handful of locations for drop-off during the week, this will be the first weekend they can do so this season.

It is free to drop the leaves off at the sites. Residents can even grab five free 30-gallon paper bags at Denver-area Ace Hardware stores for an even more environmentally friendly collection. Those bags are also compostable along with the leaves, which will be used for high-quality compost that will be available for purchase in May.

To get your coupon for a free 5-pack of leaf bags, visit www.denvergov.org/leafdrop.

Denver Public Works, Denver Parks and Recreation’s Be A Smart Ash Program and Ace Hardware teamed together to give away 50,000 bags this year.
