DENVER – Some Denver students have the day off Friday due to a water main break near Lincoln High School.

The water main break near Iliff and Irving occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m.

School district officials said shortly thereafter that Lincoln High School would be closed for the day.

Compass Academy and Respect Academy, which share a campus with Lincoln High School, also are closed Friday.

Eighteen homes in the area also are without water due to the break.

The school’s Thanksgiving break was scheduled to begin on Monday, Nov. 20, so classes will resume on Monday, Nov. 27.

Denver Water said repairs on the pipe will continue throughout the day.
