EVERGREEN, Colo. – A day after raising concerns to Denver7 over illegal dumping on Squaw Pass near Evergreen, a small army on Wednesday joined the man who first blew the whistle on the trash in cleaning the dumps up.
More than a dozen volunteers joined Tim Eagen in cleaning up several illegal dumping sites along Squaw Pass Wednesday morning.
Tuesday, Eagan showed Denver7 the sites along the winding road that were filled with old TVs, sofa, window shutters, carpet and other miscellaneous trash.
The volunteers met at Buchanan Recreation Center and took tow trucks and trailers up to the pass to start moving the trash.
Egan told Denver7 he’d like to work with state agencies to have signs installed to warn people of the massive fines associated with illegal dumping. People face up to $1,000 fines and 30 days in jail for each illegal dump.
