DENVER — A Denver deputy fired for excessive force is seen on jailhouse video slamming an inmate into a table and putting his hands around his neck.
The Denver Sheriff's Department released the video on Monday; it was recorded on Jan. 28, 2016.
Denver7 obtained a copy of the discipline letter and first reported on the firing of 15-year veteran Deputy Darrin Turner last week.
In video, the deputy can be seen striking an inmate before choking him.
The discipline letter also depicts additional wrongdoing. It states Deputy Turner allegedly yelled at the inmate telling him, "you're just a boy" and "I'll take you where there's no cameras."
Turner defended himself by saying the victim took an aggressive stance.
However, the video shows the inmate had both hands on the table and was approached from behind.
