GREELEY, Colo. — A white sedan plowed into young Brandon Chavez on his way home from school, tossing him onto the hood, then windshield of the car before the driver continued on.

Adrenaline flowing, Chavez stood up, expecting the driver to stop to wait for police, or at least apologize. He said she did neither.

"I asked the lady why she hit me and she said she did not see me," Chavez said just days after the March 31 crash. "She also said God bless, and left."

The crash left Chavez reeling, but also with severe bruises across his body. He called police just after 4 p.m., then went to the hospital.

Thankfully for Chavez, security cameras on a nearby house captured the entire event, documenting a white, four-door sedan plowing through the young Greeley High School freshman.

He escaped broken bones and damaged organs, but was prescribed pain pills to cope with the severe bruising.

"Why would you leave without calling anyone and leaving me to keep walking to my house?" Chavez questioned.

That question burned in the minds of the family that lives on the intersection of 17th Avenue and 25th Street as they watched the security footage with police.

Police came knocking later that afternoon after spotting the white security camera. Jeremy Surratt, a family member inside the home, said they gladly shared that video.

"It was devastating to see the video. Devastating, honestly," Surratt said. "I can't believe someone could do that. It looked like an almost on purpose type of thing."

Surratt said his family couldn't believe Chavez escaped without more injuries, and are happy to help police find the woman behind the wheel of the car.

Unfortunately for police, Chavez didn't get a great look at the license plate, and the security footage isn't clear enough to make it out.

Police will be left going off the description of the vehicle and woman given by Chavez. He described the woman as older, with white hair, and described the vehicle as possibly a Buick.

Greeley Police Department officials say they're working to find the woman behind the wheel at the time, and are welcoming tips from those who see the video. Tap here to make a tip with Greeley Police.
