The victim of a robbery in Jefferson County is now in custody along with the two suspects who allegedly tried to rob him, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

The confusing chain of events began around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, when Jefferson County dispatch received a 911 call reporting a robbery. A driver on the other line said that a guy in a black Jeep pulled up next to him and asked him to call police because someone had pulled a gun on him.
The man in the Jeep then drove away in pursuit of a white Dodge truck.
Ten minutes later, dispatchers received a second call. This time, from a man claiming to have been shot by a guy in a black Jeep. The shooting victim told the officer he was the driver of a white Dodge truck and that he had a passenger with him.
According to information from Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jackie Kelley, the driver of the Jeep chased the white Dodge truck on C-470 as they drove toward the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies eventually found the white truck and the black Jeep in the area of Heritage Road and Golden Ridge Road in Golden.
All three men -- the two in the white Dodge truck and the man in the black Jeep -- were then taken into custody and booked into the sheriff's office. The driver of the truck had been shot in both legs and was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators learned overnight that the alleged robbery took place at a home in the area of Highway 285 and Swiss Road in the small town of Pine, more than 30 miles away from where the deputies arrested the three men.
The victim in the robbery, who has only been identified as Thomas, lives there with his girlfriend, Kelley said. The two robbery suspects were identified as Joseph and Joshua.
According to preliminary accounts, Joseph and Joshua went to Thomas' home to "hang out," but eventually robbed him and his girlfriend at gunpoint, taking with them a wallet, cash, keys and a cell phone. As the suspects made their escape, Thomas followed them and fired a gun in the air, later jumping into the black Jeep to pursue them.

During the pursuit, Thomas fired shots at both Joseph and Joshua. The suspects, unfamiliar with the area, eventually got off of Highway 285 and drove into the area of Bowles and Simms. Kelley said this is the area where Thomas asked a homeowner to call 911 because he was pursuing Joseph and Joshua.
Kelley said that at some point, Thomas pulled alongside Joseph and Joshua and fired a gun at their white Dodge truck, striking Joseph in both legs. It was a short time later that deputies found all of the men involved in the shooting and took them into custody.
Joseph is in custody for aggravated robbery, but remains in the hospital. Joshua is in custody for aggravated robbery and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. Thomas is in custody for two counts of attempted first degree homicide.
