DENVER — Vail Mountain plans to extend its ski and snowboard season through May 1.

The resort announced Monday that recently purchased snowmaking equipment made the extended ski season possible.

The week-long extension will make this year the longest continuous season in Vail Mountain’s history, the resort said.

Vail Mountain was initially set to end the season on April 24.
