Students and staff at DU are on high alert as a woman reported late Wednesday night that a man had sexually assaulted her as she walked home from campus.
A DU spokesperson tells Denver 7, the woman was walking home in the area of High and Wesley Streets, when a man walked by her and forcibly fondled her.
DU says the suspect is a 6 foot man, with light skin and was wearing a college themed hat with ear flaps. The woman reports that he was last seen going west on Wesley street from that intersection.
“I was kind of shocked and alarmed and then I got the text and the tweet from DU,” said Lexie Graham, a DU freshman. “I was really glad that they were so quick in responding to the situation but I definitely freaked me out a little bit.”
Denver 7 spoke with several people who note that because the streets around campus aren’t well lit, there is some danger looming when walking home at night alone.
“They aren’t very well light and I can see how that could pose a threat and be a pretty dangerous situation,” said Soleil Khol, a DU freshman. “I walk home from the library at two in the morning, I’ve never had a problem with it, if I feel unsafe, I call campus security person to walk us back to the dorm.”
Police don’t have any suspects.
