DENVER -- On Wednesday the University of Denver revealed the first stages of a 20-year development plan. Advantage Denver will include projects on campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods, with a goal of blurring the lines between DU and the city of Denver.

The plan includes several upcoming construction projects, including a new first a new first-year residence hall that will break ground this summer, and a community commons that will be open to the public.

In January crews will also break ground on a new career center. There are also plans for more places to eat and shop on campus, and a hotel to host guests and conferences.

There are also plans to add more green spaces on campus, as well as more lighting and signage to make the campus feel more open to the rest of Denver. Chancellor Rebecca Chopp says she wants to see a more bustling campus on evenings and weekends.

Funding for the projects will come largely from partnerships. DU says it's committed to financial sustainability for any project.

Transportation is also part of the plan. The University announced a partnership with the city of Denver for piloting innovative and sustainable transportation options.
