DENVER – Thousands of students attending the state’s two biggest universities are celebrating the next chapter in their lives.
The class of 2017 at both The University of Colorado and Colorado State University in Fort Collins will reap the benefits of years of hard work when they walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. Graduation ceremonies are being held at the schools all weekend.
For some students though, simply crossing the stage to accept their diploma is the most challenging part. CSU student Kevin Hoyt used that dream to walk again.
Hoyt was paralyzed after falling from the attic in his Utah home on New Year’s Day in 2015. But after years of determination and the drive to accomplish his dream, he will walk unassisted across the stage Saturday.
CSU profiled his journey in a blog post on its website.
Many in the class of 2017 share Hoyt’s drive to make the world they’re taking on a better place. The schools captured that spirit in several photos posted on the universities’ Facebook and Twitter accounts.
