DENVER – A flight from New Jersey to San Diego was diverted to Denver Wednesday night because of an unspecified “security concern.”
Officials at Denver International Airport say United flight 1243 from Newark was forced to land in Denver around 9:30 p.m. The plane landed safely, officials said.
Passengers were bussed to a DIA terminal and the airline is working with passengers, an airport official told Denver7.
Police and the FBI are investigating. The aircraft was parked away from the terminal while the investigation was ongoing.
Just after 11 p.m., DIA tweeted out that "everything is safe" and reports said the plane was headed to San Diego once again. A man on the flight confirmed the plane was headed back to its original destination after the plane was swept and the all-clear given.
@mohiclaire everything is safe. A flight was inspected as a precaution.
