United Airlines Flight 745 returns to Denver International Airport amid bird strike

DENVER - A United Airlines flight had to return to Denver International Airport Thursday evening after the Boeing 737 was affected by a bird strike.

An airport spokesperson said Portland-bound UAL Flight 745 took off just after 7 p.m. when the pilot turned around and landed safely back at DIA. None of the 185 people onboard were injured.

United Airlines put the passengers on another airplane and continued onto Portland.

Bird strikes are not that unusual at DIA. Back in May, a Virgin America flight was forced to return to Denver shortly after take-off because the aircraft collided with a bird.
