DENVER – Nursing mothers attending sporting games or other events at Denver’s professional sports venues now have dedicated spots where they can breastfeed or pump.

Coors Field and Sports Authority Field at Mile High teamed up with UCHealth to buy and install self-contained “nursing suites” at the venues.

The suites join one that’s already in use at the Pepsi Center, making Denver the first U.S. city to have lactation suites in all of its downtown professional sports venues, according to UCHealth.

The nursing stations are made by Mamava and measure four feet by eight feet. They’re air-conditioned, have an electrical outlet for plugging in a breast pump and can be locked from the inside. The booths are made to be used by one mom at a time with room for other children and diaper bags.

Officials at UCHealth say the stations will give new moms a comfortable, quiet and private place to feed their children.

“The UCHealth Nursing Suites offer nursing moms who are wanting to enjoy activities outside the home a way to achieve their breastfeeding goals in a comfortable setting,” said Jessica Anderson, a midwife at UCHealth’s University of Colorado Hospital and director of CU Center for Midwifery. “Breastfeeding provides long-term health benefits for babies and their mothers, and the nursing suites are part of UCHealth’s dedication to support, educate and encourage families throughout the breastfeeding journey.”

The Coors Field nursing station is located on the main concourse behind Section 114 along the first-base line.

The nursing station at Sports Authority Field at Mile High can be found on the main concourse inside Gate 6. The station will be available for the Broncos’ preseason home opener on Aug. 26.
