AURORA, Colo. – University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora is one of the best in the country, according to the latest rankings from U.S. News and World Report.
UC Hospital came in 15th on U.S. News and World Report’s “Honor Roll” of the best hospitals in the United States. It was the only Colorado medical center to make the honor roll list.
UC Hospital and Naitonal Jewish Health together ranked first in the country for pulmonology care, earning 100 points out of 100 possible for that particular specialty.
Three of the country’s most well-known hospitals took the top spots on the list – The Mayo Clinic ranked first, followed by the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins.
In Colorado, UC Hospital came in first place, followed by Porter Adventist Hospital and Rose Medical Center, both in Denver.

U.S. News and World Report rated hospitals on 16 specialty conditions and procedures as well as common procedures like heart bypass and hip replacement surgeries. Those scores then factored in to each medical center’s overall score with a maximum total of 480. UC Hospital earned a score of 204, while the Mayo Clinic scored 415.
