JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. – Motorist should avoid U.S. 6 in western Jefferson County on Saturday: The highway will be closed until 1:30 p.m. between Highway 93 and Highway 119.
Crews will be cleaning up Clear Creek Canyon Park and the surrounding area as part of the National Public Lands Day cleanup, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Nearly 500 volunteers will be helping out with the cleanup along a 13-mile section of the canyon.
Here are a couple alternate routes, via CDOT:
• Drivers can take I-70 both eastbound and westbound as an alternate route around the closure, which will result in an additional five to ten minutes of travel time.
• Access to Black Hawk and Central City is available by using the Central City Parkway (Exit 243 from I-70) or by traveling east on Highway 6 (Exit 244 from I-70) and then north on CO 119.
