The two people who died in a crash in Douglas County have been identified.

The crash closed Highway 83 just south of Franktown when it happened on Monday evening. Colorado State Patrol says two cars wrecked between the Castlewood Canyon State Park entrance and Upper Lake Gulch Road.
Colorado State Patrol says the driver of an Audi S5 crossed the centerline into the southbound lanes, hitting a Chevy Tahoe.

Both drivers died on scene. 77-year-old Stephen Edwards of Peyton, Colo., was driving the Audi. Jeffrey Lobato, 47, was driving the Chevy. The passengers in Lobato’s vehicle were hurt.

Traffic was diverted away from the highway right after the crash, which happened around 6 p.m. Monday. The road reopened around 11 p.m.

There’s no word yet on what caused the crash.

Lobato was a high school football coach at Doherty High School in Colorado Springs.
