Colo. teens' essays featured on Chipotle cups

The next time you order a drink at Chipotle - take a moment to read the story on your cup.  It may have been written by a local student!

Two teens from Colorado are among 10 winners of Chipotle Mexican Grill's "Cultivating Thought" essay contest.

Marianna Hughes, 17, from Elizabeth, and Alec Smith, 18, from Parker, each received a $20,000 scholarship. Their essays are featured on cups at Chipotle locations nationwide.

Contest entrants were told to write about a time when food created a lasting memory.  Hughes wrote about her grandmother's "legendary" oatmeal.  Smith wrote about his family of nine coming together around the holiday dinner table. 

Since 2014, Chipotle’s "Cultivating Thought" series that has featured works of famous authors and comedians including Toni Morrison, Jonathan Safran Foer and Judd Apatow on the restaurant’s cups and bags.
