Thornton woman arrested in connection to deadly Feb. 22 hit-and-run crash

THORNTON, Colo. — A 26-year-old in Thornton has been arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run crash on Feb. 22.

On Tuesday morning, the Thornton Police Department announced that Abigail Morales-Ballesteros of Thornton had been arrested for investigation of careless driving resulting in a death, and for a hit-and-run crash involving a death.

Thornton police said the charges stem from a Feb. 22 crash around 2 a.m. in which Morales-Ballesteros allegedly struck Bradley Hatchett, 33, along the 11500 block of Colorado Boulevard. The suspect vehicle was found on Feb. 26 along the 12500 block of Dahlia Way, roughly a mile and a half northeast of the crash.

Hatchett was transported to a hospital in critical condition, and was later pronounced deceased. Family members he was a military veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
