The University Of Colorado's Natural History Museum is one of the go to places for researchers around the world, but now the CU-Museum needs some help.
It stores more than 16,000 mammal specimens for researchers to study various areas like disease and genetics, but the museum relies on the cabinets built in the 1950s and 1960s.
These outdated storage cabinets are unable to bear the weight of heavy specimens, they allow insects to get in and feed on the animal tissues, and they also release chemicals that degrade the specimens over time.
The museum started a crowd funding campaign to help raise the $24,800 needed to buy new cabinets.
