LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. – An 18-year-old tuber who was pulled from the Cache La Poudre River died from his injuries Monday.
The man was with a 16-year-old boy Sunday afternoon. The two teens were tubing on the river when they went over a low-head dam by Watson Lake. The 18-year-old fell off his tube and was unresponsive when bystanders pulled him from the river and performed CPR.
The teen was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased the next day. The coroner’s office has yet to release his name or manner of death.
The 16-year-old was pulled by firefighters out of the river by a rescue rope and was alert when taken to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown.
Neither teenager was wearing a flotation device, according to the Poudre Fire Authority.
Officials also stressed residents should stay out of the Poudre River as it is running high and dangerous.
