AURORA, Colo. — A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed during a Juneteenth celebration at the Rocky Ridge Park in Aurora Friday evening.
Around 8:30 p.m., Aurora police responded to multiple reports of a shooting at the park located at 16200 East Mississippi Avenue.
Officer’s arrived and located the teen suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later in the evening, police said.
His identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.
Police say they believe the shooting was an isolated incident between the victim and the suspect or suspects.
No one is currently in custody, but investigators are working to identify the suspect(s).
