DENVER – The 16-year-old high school student shot and killed at a warehouse party over the weekend was identified Monday.
The coroner’s office identified the Overland High School junior as Sanghyuk kim. The teen was shot around midnight Saturday during a warehouse party at South Cherokee Street and West Arkansas Avenue. No arrests have been made.
Police say an altercation inside the warehouse led to the shooting outside between the Denver Lumber Company office and the train tracks in that area. Another male was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand. Police would not say if the shooting was gang-related.
Sanghyuk landed on the honor roll and was involved in several school activities, the district said. Mental health counselors will be available to students.
