DENVER – A sleeping 15-year-old girl was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in southwest Denver early Wednesday morning.
Police were called to the four-unit apartment complex in the 4200 block of West Dakota Avenue around 3 a.m. Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The teen was in the second unit sleeping in the front room at the time of the shooting. A bullet struck a third unit, but no injuries were reported.
Police believe the shooting was a targeted attack, but they are not sure if the teen was the intended victim. The girl's mother and her three other children were in the home.
Homicide detectives are investigating the incident and have yet to release a motive, suspect information or vehicle description.
The victim has yet to be identified.
