DENVER — Meal prep can be tedious, but also rewarding, especially if it means getting extra nutrients in your day throughout the week by devoting a small chunk of time to blending smoothies on Sunday.
On Tasty Tuesday, Denver7 is featuring breakfast smoothies that can take the place of a meal every day throughout the week.
The smoothies, which don't take long to blend and package, can be varied by switching up the berries used or even by subtracting ingredients, but for our purposes, we'll look at a simple seven-ingredient smoothie: Strawberry, banana and spinach.
Ingredients to make two smoothies
Start with the ingredients, which include bananas, strawberries, spinach, milk, yogurt, vanilla extract and honey.
Step 1
Place two cups of strawberries into a blender of your choice.
Step 2
Slice, then place one banana into the blender.
Step 3
Place a cup of spinach into the blender.
Step 4
Place half a cup of non-fat Greek yogurt into the blender.
Step 5 & 6
Place a tablespoon of honey into the blender. Place half a tablespoon of vanilla into the blender.
Step 7
Place two cups of milk into the blender.
Step 8
Blend, then place into two mason jars.
How to enjoy
If the smoothies won't be consumed right away, place them in the freezer. You can repeat this recipe five times with the same recipe, or vary which berries you use to have 10 days of breakfast ready in the freezer.
