Denver Target shoppers charged more for items on baby aisle

Posted

DENVER -- Target shoppers are paying more for the same item based on the place it’s located in the store.

A spokesperson for Target says a glitch in the store’s pricing system is causing the mix-up.

Investigative reporters with Denver7's sister station in Kansas City found infant’s Tylenol and Motrin were more expensive when found in the baby aisle compared to the same medication located near the pharmacy in the healthcare section.

Target spokesperson Kristy Welker released a statement saying, “We apologize for this inadvertent error and the confusion it has caused. Once we were made aware of the issue, we updated the pricing systems to reflect accurate and consistent pricing of these dually-located items. The consistent, revised pricing is now displayed in our store.”

Target claims it fixed the problem, but on a trip to Target on East Virginia Avenue, Denver7 found the price for Tylenol had been corrected, but the children’s Motrin still rang up a dollar more if it was purchased from the baby section.

As you can see in the picture of the receipt above the Motrin from the baby section was $8.99, but in the health and beauty section it rang up at $7.99.

Target says it is continuing to work through this problem, and if you bought something within the baby department and believe you were charged more than you should have been just take your receipt to guest services and you will be refunded the price difference.
