LONGMONT, Colo. -- A sewage spill on a Colorado highway caused backups in Longmont Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities say a driver hit a light pole, leading the semi's load to overturn. On impact, treated sewage began to spill on the roadway.
HAZMAT crews are on scene, calling for an entire load of sand to help stem the flow and soak up oil.
Highway 119 closed down at 55th street around 12 p.m. as a result of the crash at Highway 119 -- also known as the Diagonal Highway -- and 63rd Street. The street has since been reopened.
The cleanup wasn't a short one. Crews say it was an arduous process that took several hours.
