System outage shuts down Colorado DMV

Posted

DENVER — People who are planning to get a driver license in Colorado Thursday will be out of luck.

The Colorado Department of Revenue announced around noon that an online system that verifies Social Security numbers went down, preventing them from issuing driver licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.

All state and county Colorado driver license offices have been affected.

It’s not clear how long the outage will last. The agency said it is working with its partners to restore services as quickly as possible.
