DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — A 19-year-old man is facing suspicion of DUI and underage consumption charges after crashing a car into vehicles and homes late Wednesday.

Deputy Cocha Heyden with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to Copeland Street near Sanderling Way around 10:35 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a car that had struck four vehicles and two homes.

The sheriff's office said the crash was "a continuing episode" that started with a hit-and-run crash near South Broadway and County Line Road.

Heyden said the driver, Kyle Anthony Frendberg, 19, had been driving a white Jeep Grand Cherokee when the car left the roadway and hit the cars and buildings. Residents told police that Frendberg tried to flee from the scene.

Frendberg is being held on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving, failing to give information after damaging a vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash, illegal possession of marijuana by an underage person, illegal possession of marijuana paraphernalia by an underage person and illegal consumption of alcohol by underage person. He is being held on a $1,000 bond.

One person was transported to a hospital. Residents are temporarily displaced, the fire department said.

Heyden said it appeared that Frendberg was under the influence when he was driving.
