LAKEWOOD, Colo. – A man arrested after a car chase in Jefferson County on Thursday now faces an attempted murder charge after he fired a weapon at a police officer during the incident, police said.

Roger Reynolds, 35, was wanted after an incident earlier Friday at a Motel 6 in Denver. As officers tracked Reynolds, he fired a shot at a Denver police officer near 8th Avenue and Urban Court, according to a Lakewood police news release.

Reynolds then fled in a stolen vehicle, with a woman companion in the car, police said. Reynolds and the woman, Stacia Darline Smith, 26, bailed from the car and police arrested the pair after a short foot chase. The chase ended near Colfax Avenue and Moss Street, in an area of unincorporated Jefferson County.

Reynolds faces charges of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer, two counts of aggravated robbery, vehicular eluding and possession of weapons by a previous offender.
