BACA COUNTY, Colo. — A suspect died after he was shot by deputies during an incident in Baca County Wednesday evening.
The Baca County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a call around 5:30 p.m. about an armed suspect near County Road 20 and County Road PP, which is north of Springfield and west of Two Buttes.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation said Thursday afternoon that the man, identified as 31-year-old Christopher Lawson, was making threats and that a Baca County deputy was negotiating with him.
Around 8:30 p.m., according to the CBI, Lawson allegedly pointed a gun at deputies, who returned fire. Lawson died after the shooting.
No law enforcement members were injured.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was requested to investigate the incident along with members of the 15th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
