Sunday was projected to be the second-busiest day on record at the Denver International Airport.
Officials say 179,000 passengers were expected to travel through the airport Sunday, as people all over the country head home after the holidays.
The busiest day in the airport's 20-year history was Nov. 29, 2015, when an estimated 182,000 travelers went through DIA.
DIA opened on Feb. 28, 1995.
Airport officials remind travelers to check their flight status and arrive "extra early." The airport generally advises arriving two hours before your flight.
