Many of us have constructed gingerbread houses before. They're often leaning and the candy might fall off the wall.
The owner of an Estes Park bakery is a bit more talented.
Cru Shantz, who runs Scratch Deli & Bakery on Moraine Avenue in Estes Park, spent three weeks making a gingerbread church replica.
Raisinettes, cinnamon sticks, Jolly Ranchers, pretzel rods, royal icing and other sweet treats make up this edible version of St. Malo Retreat Center.
Icicles made of icing hang from the tasty model. Look closely and you'll notice stained glass windows made of candy, edible stone walls and, of course, snow.
According to the Estes Park Trail Gazette, Shantz attended Scottsdale Culinary Institute and came to Estes Park for an externship in 2001. He stayed.
You'll find the real-life version of the Catholic church on Highway 7 in Allenspark, Colorado. The gingerbread version is now on display at his bakery.
We think we'll stick to our day jobs. So should Shantz.
