DENVER -- An alert educator is being credited with spotting a gun in a student's pocket at a Denver school.
Denver police told Denver7 the teacher called for help Wenesday morning at ACE Community Challenge School near 9th and Santa Fe.
Police responded to the school soon after and secured the gun, taking the student into custody.
It appears no one was hurt, and police didn't remain at the school for long.
Police have not yet released the suspect's age or gender.
The website for ACE Community Challenge School says the charter school serves Denver's most high-risk students from 8th to 10th grade.
The school's director, Eloy Chavez, told Denver7 the school's staff goes through risk assessment training.
