WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. – A Wheat Ridge High school student is being questioned by police after a threat against the Jefferson County high school was posted to social media Sunday.
Wheat Ridge Police say an investigation into the threat led them to the student’s home early Monday morning where the student was arrested. The student's name was not released.
Investigators said they found no evidence to indicate the student took a substantial step toward carrying out the threat, which the exact nature of has yet to be released.
Schools officials felt confident enough that the threat was “neutralized” and continued with classes as scheduled Monday.
“I want to be sure you know we are aware of the concerns, we have taken action, and we will not subject our students to any undue risk,” a letter from the school’s principal to parents read.
Extra security was present at the school Monday as a result of the investigation.
The student is being detained on the charge of interference with staff, faculty or students of an educational facility.
