BRIGHTON, Colo. – A 17-year-old student accused of making a false report of a threat at Brighton High School in April – prompting lockouts, lockdowns and evacuations – has been arrested, police said Wednesday.

The student, whose name isn't being released because she is a juvenile, faces a felony charge of making a false report of explosives, weapons or harmful substances; and misdemeanor charges of interference with staff, faculty or students of educational institutions, and harassment.

Brighton High School went into lockdown on April 19 after officers received an anonymous tip through the Safe2Tell app about an alleged threat made over social media. Ten classes at the school were evacuated, and all other schools in the Brighton area were placed on lockout.

While officers investigated the tip, another tip came in, saying a student was in a bathroom at the school loading a gun. But police found that neither threat was credible and that no students were in danger.
