DENVER — A stray sparkler flew close to the audience at a post-game New Year’s Eve celebration at the Pepsi Center.
After the Avalanche game Monday evening, guests were invited to enjoy a sparkler show.
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Pepsi Center, said one of the sparklers somehow rerouted and shot over the heads of the audience instead of upward.
“On-site medical, fire and security officials immediately addressed the situation, and no major injuries or damage were reported,” the company said. “Fan safety is our highest priority, and we would like to thank those involved for quickly resolving the matter. We’ll continue to work with the appropriate authorities to determine the cause of the problem and to prevent a future mishap.”
Apparently the Avalanche’s fireworks show last night was almost interactive... and not in a good way. pic.twitter.com/nEcGjFuiAT
