An officer who has been with the police department for five years was shot after police responded to a multiple calls of an armed person firing a gun in a neighborhood. This is a developing story.

The man called his stepfather a hero after he shot a home intruder that had the man's 11-year-old son in his grasp. The stepfather, also a Vietnam War veteran and Purple Heart recipient, was fatally shot by an officer in the chaotic scene.
