DENVER – More than 600 drunk drivers in Colorado were arrested over two-week St. Patrick’s Day enforcement period, according to a Colorado Department of Transportation report released Thursday.
The statewide total of DUI arrests from March 10-20 came to 607, which is a 33 percent increase from last year. There were 455 arrests during last year’s enforcement period.
Eighty-three agencies participated in the enforcement, with the Colorado Springs Police Department (52 arrests), Denver Police Department (43 arrests) and Aurora Police Department (42 arrests) recording the highest arrest totals. In addition, the Colorado State Patrol made 139 arrests.
