Sunlight Mountain Resort near Glenwood Springs says it's opening Friday, one week earlier than expected.
Officials at the ski area say more than two feet of natural snow in November means the ski area can open early.
This is Sunlight's 49th season.
It's opening nearly 300 skiable acres for the weekend, will close Monday through Thursday and reopen for the season next Friday.
Ski Cooper will also open this weekend for a preview, close during the week, then open for the season Dec. 12.
There are still five more Colorado ski resorts to open this season:
- Aspen Highlands: Dec. 12
- Buttermilk: Dec. 12
- Powderhorn: Dec. 17
- Silverton: TBA
- Ski Granby: Dec. 17
