Skier, ID'd as a Colorado Springs teacher, dies after falling from Pikes Peak

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A woman skiing at the top of Pikes Peak fell and died Sunday.

The woman was skiing with her family on the Little Italy Couloir Trail when she fell.

Denver7 partner KRDO reported that the victim has been identified as Rachel Dewey, 48, of Colorado Springs.

The victim taught social studies at a Colorado Springs school, KRDO reported.

Teller County authorities said Dewey lost control and fell 1,000 feet to her death. She was with her husband and three teenage sons at the time of the accident.
