SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — A 65-year-old skier died after he was found unresponsive on a run at Keystone Ski Resort Monday.

Around 11:50 a.m. on Monday, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to Keystone Ski Resort for a report of a skier found unconscious and not breathing on an advanced trail on Dercum Mountain.

When deputies arrived, they found no signs of trauma on the 65-year-old skier. He was transported to Keystone Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

His name has not been released, but Keystone Ski Resort confirmed he was a Golden resident.

“Keystone Resort, Keystone Ski Patrol and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family and friends,” said Jody Churich, Keystone Resort’s vice president and general manager.

The Summit County Coroner is investigating the cause of death.
